The Arch 12 studio — a power rack and lifting platform under a brick railway arch, kettlebells in a row, shutter door open to daylight

Strength coaching · Glasgow southside

Get strong. It takes longer than you'd like.

One-to-one barbell coaching in a railway arch off Coplaw Street. Four people in the room at most. A programme written for you, and someone watching every rep of it.

What you actually get

A programme written for you. Not an app template. Written after we've seen you move, adjusted every few weeks based on what the numbers did.

Someone watching. That's the entire point of paying for this. You cannot see your own back angle, and a mirror lies to you.

Four people, maximum. Sessions overlap but everyone gets coached. If it's busier than that, you've been sold a gym membership, not coaching.

Barbells, mostly. Squat, press, deadlift, chin-ups, some carries. It is not exciting and it is not supposed to be.

You won't find before-and-after photos here

Every trainer's website has them. They're the best handful of results out of everyone who ever walked in, they never show the people who stopped coming, and half the time they aren't even that trainer's clients.

They also make people feel bad, which is a strange way to start.

What we'll tell you instead: most people who train here twice a week for six months add somewhere between 20 and 40kg to their deadlift and stop being frightened of their own back. That's the honest range, and it includes the ones who didn't get the good result.

Who this isn't for

Saying this up front saves us both a wasted half hour, and it's the section people tell us they actually trusted.

Anyone wanting to be a different shape by a specific date. Weddings, holidays, reunions. That's not how the timeline works and we'd rather not take the money.
Anyone who wants to be shouted at. Nobody here shouts. It's mostly quiet, with a radio on.
Anyone who can't get here twice a week for three months. Once a week is better than nothing but it isn't worth £45 of coaching.
Anyone after machines, classes, a sauna or a smoothie bar. It's one room, one rack and a kettle.

Start

Tell us roughly where you're at and when you could get here. We'll reply with a couple of times — no phone call, no consultation you have to sit through. First session is £45 and you'll leave with a plan whether or not you come back.
